Good God, this blog is doomed.
Today I read somewhere that in order for a blog to be successful, it must focus on a single topic. If the blog is cluttered and talks about anything under the sun, nobody will read it.
Gasp!
The name alone of this blog is already 3 things. And I talk about other stuff too, especially recently with major changes in my life ~ becoming a full-time housewife, relocating to an exotic country, keeping fit, crochet…. I even allow Fridays for (what is apparently) the kiss of death: “preoccupations”, a.k.a. anything that strikes my fancy.
Drats!
So I stopped for a while to reflect on what my blogging has done for me so far:
⭐ I am getting to know myself better while learning to express myself.
⭐ I’m discovering many interesting, absolutely amazing individuals kicking ass in their own worlds – and learning from them. (And hey, most of them seem to be just as ‘unfocused’ as I am, truth be told).
⭐ I am having fun.
Best of all:
⭐ I do have a growing number of followers. They may only read some of what I post, but by choosing to follow this ‘unfocused blog’ they have given me the “you’re doing good, have fun!” thumbs-up sign.
And that, dear blogosphere, happily floats my boat ❤
The title of this post worried me, but I am so glad that you recognized on your own how amazing your blog is! I love it and always read every post – no matter how random it is. 🙂 Keep up the good work!

Hi,
I know BluChickJenna. If you are having fun, that is all that matters. If you wanted growth, I’d advise having a niche. I wanted a variety of topics. But, when I settled on blogging tips, my traffic increased dramatically.

I see. Yeah, that’s something for me to think about. I thought about creating separate blogs but not sure I really want to go thru all the trouble. I still have to discover one topic I can talk about endlessly and dedicate a blog to that 🙂
Thank you for leaving a comment. I sincerely appreciate it 🙂

I haven’t written about how to find a niche. Maybe I should. I give blogging advice. Janice

Hi Paardje!
Thank you so much for following my blog! I do honor followers’ requests. Looks like I’m going to be getting a post together on how to find a niche =). I might need a week to make sure it’s well researched. I want to make sure it’s thorough for you. Thank you!

Hi Missus,
The post on the value of a blog niche is finished. Here is the link. http://wp.me/p5jxvv-14r The link will be live in about 90 minutes–2:00 California time.
I hope, if you are impressed after reading it, you will consider following my blog. I am trying to grow my readership, so I brought you the link so you can read about my blog. Here it is http://wp.me/P5jxvv-1
By the way, I read what you wrote Paardje. My tips are only suggestions based on my reading and first-hand experience. However, they are only that, suggestions. Once people read them, they can take them or leave them, whatever makes them happy. Paardje is lucky to have a reader like you who takes an interest in his happiness.

The question is: do you WANT your blog to be successful? I mean, of course the “good” people with superduper blogs like giving advice on what you actually SHOULD be doing to have a successful blog… but on the other hand – this is YOUR space, and if it makes you happy the way it is, then you’ve already won 🙂 And if you make other people happy with what you write, then you’ve won once more! And if people decide to follow you – you’ve got a third win. And if you manage to affect other people in any way and get them thinking about ANY sort of subject you’re writing about – then you’ve got a jackpot :)!!! That’s what art is about and I’d concider a blog being art, don’t you? So keep up with your blog – I think it’s absolutely lovely!!! I often also ask myself – gee, I get no stats at all^^ But if my blog makes me and maybe also some other people happy, then I shall continue 🙂

I feel better, thank you!! I feel 100% the same way! It just means we are well-rounded, versatile, and cultural women!! We see art in all and performing our many enjoyments brings our soul happiness ☺️ Namaste, sister.

You just made my heart sing — very well said 🙂
I’ve been scouring my brain about this (though I don’t want to admit it!) but truth is, I find it very difficult -if not impossible- to curtail my bliss. Maybe sometime in the future but right now, I’m happy.
Terima kasih ❤ ❤ ❤

Don’t worry about the topic of the blog. That is for certain kinds of people or if you are using the blog for a breadcrumb to sell something.
If your blog is all about different things that have to do with you then it does have a theme.
Keep writing. Your voice matters just as much as everyone else’s does.
Sometimes eye catching titles to posts…like “why nobody reads my blog” ….or. ” pickles and red shoes”
will make people curious about what the post is about
. Never give away the entire post in the title, like I often see like….”my fathers party was a success” See? No reason to read that.
I would have used…” Birthday party, impossible relatives and mustard on my shoes”
So, those little tricks help. To draw people to your blog, do it the same way you drew me…..read their blog, click “like” on something or follow.
Much love,
Annie

I love your blog and in general I like blogs with a variety of topics. I find them interesting to read because you never know what you might find. My blog covers a variety of topics and I personally think I would be bored if I stuck with one main topic. Keep up with the great variety.

Well, you have 28 comments so far so obviously you’re doing something right. I see some people who blog and get thousands of followers in just a few months. I’ve been blogging for years and years but have about 150 followers and not many comments. But I do it for me, not for the exposure or the advertising, so I’m happy.

Thank you 🙂 I do get really excited when I get a new follower and see that number climb, but I also like the way I’m blogging right now and am not interested in changing. Blogging is foremost about sharing and having fun, and I’m already happy because I have those already 🙂
