Gettin’ Busy With It

running-498257_960_720

The good thing about sitting with boredom for a while and hearing what it has to say is that I always end up with a pretty bangin’ list of things to do or learn ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜

It’s not the exception this time, which is why I now have the appropriate reaction down pat – put all routines on hold, grab pen and paper and give boredom it’s airtime.

It’s a pretty long list usually as I don’t censor. I then give the list time to simmer and, sooner or later a few will hold my attention long enough to become goals ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜

And so, since it’s the first Monday of June — Happy 1st Monday of June to y’all!!! — I figured it would be the perfect day to announce my goals for the month ๐Ÿ™† ๐Ÿ™†

I love having monthly goals โค โค They give focus and direction, as well as something to celebrate at the end of the month.ย  I picked 3 for June, and I feel that they give enough variety without necessarily diffusing my focus:

  1. Complete Introductory & Phase 1 Beginner of my Indonesian language lessons.

The fact that I haven’t seriously sunk my teeth into learning the Indonesian language is like a leaky faucet that’s keeping me up all night.ย  It’s about time I got it fixed! ๐Ÿ‘Š ๐Ÿ‘Š

ย  ย  ย  2.ย  Knit my first sweater.

I am still not over the fact that there are also circular needles and double pointed needles – I thought there was only those straight ones! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

โ€ฆ so from there you can imagine how lofty this goal actually is for me. But as I sat and learned how to knit-purl-knit-knit, I realized my truth: I came here for the sweaters!

So I’m just gonna dive right in and learn as I go along ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

ย ย ย ย ย  3.ย  Learn to make meatballs.

Just because ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿคฃ

As you can see I’m very specific with all 3 so there’s no room for distraction.ย  And of course, to keep me accountable (and so we can have delicious chats), I’ll be blogging about my progress as I go along.

I’m actually pretty excited ๐Ÿ˜€ Wish me luck!

And now what are YOUR goals for June? ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Great goals!! I love how specific they are, I think that’s something I need to do. Right now my goals are to read more, stress less, and stop shopping so much ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll have to get them more specific so they’re easier to reach.

    1. Stop shopping so much … are you sure you want to do this? LOL! XD XD

Yeah, being specific really helps. Does away with the confusion that often derail our best intentions. Best of luck! โค ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Haha! I know what you mean! Right now I’m still very enthusiastic so I’m positive this will be enough to knit at least 1 sweater XD But I already bought so much yarn and I ordered more knitting needles yesterday (oops!) XD I want to knit one for my husband and daughter too. I am SO crazy, right? But, wish me luck ๐Ÿ˜€

And ya, looking forward to being able to read your Indonesian blog posts soon ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Great goals Paardje! My goal this month is to well survive… And cross 4 items off our family’s summer bucket list! I can’t wait to see your circular/double pointed needle progress. It’s not as intimidating as it looks! It’s really a lot of fun! ๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. Haha, thanks for the encouragement โค โค It is a lot of fun. I just hope the finished items will actually be used/worn – as a complete beginner, I have my reservations ๐Ÿ™‚ But, such is the pathway to learning XD XD

    1. I’ve already started actually, back and front portions already done! I found a beginner sweater that’s perhaps the simplest, easiest version out there ๐Ÿ˜€ Stay tuned ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. So happy to see your returning from the funk. 3 goals this month. 1. No online shopping for the rest of June. 2. Finish projects started and ditched because they didn’t go according to plan. 3. Run an extra class this month, because I already said I would and I haven’t scheduled it yet!! Good luck with yours.

    1. Hi Barbara! Thanks so much ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you return to those unfinished projects with a fresh look and renewed enthusiasm – sometimes, a break can provide the required push to finish ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck on your goals and, thanks so much for sharing. Always such a pleasure to get a comment from you ๐Ÿ™‚ โค

      1. I wanted to correct my typo up there too, it was supposed to read “So happy to see you returning from…..” I don’t like it when I note errors after I have pressed the post button. That is the pedant in me. Thank you for the good wishes with my goals too.

  6. 2 goals:
    1. Get my very very first academic post public –
been delaying it and perfection-izing it endlessly for a while now even though i do know perfect is not optimal in anything in life… cant help it i think:O
    2. Get in touch with and meet this high-caliber eminent person i met in a conference, without chickening out and procrastinating it until “i feel ready” cause we never really feel ready right? we gotta lean into it before the timing loses momentum, right?

    Fingers crossed for me pleaaaase?

PS: You’re the first person, truly first, who makes me write down those goals hence to make me feel accountable and make them seem so real and do-able. Thank you, from the heart.

    Sincerely,
    Joy

    1. Aww, Joy (love your name) you just made my day โค โค You're very welcome, so glad I could help in some way. And your goals are so exciting! I'm sorta squirming in my seat as I read your #2 – go for it! Now! XD Tell you what, I'll even cross my eyes for you, not just my fingers. But you gotta do it fast because my family is going to freak out with my eyes like that XD You said it yourself, lean into it because there's never going to be a 'perfect time' (or the perfect version, in the case of #1) for it. Let me know how it goes, ok ๐Ÿ™‚ Wishing you the best and the most on both goals โค โค (Weee!)

      1. Have i caused humongous panic at your home yet? :$ (*hiding face guilt-ily*) hehe are you not the cutest!!!
I refrained from writing u back because i ran a little slow on the above two goals; i had one , my draft, completed and sent out for review by a dear mentor of mine, but the other: i was still hesitating on, until ur comment- no flattery- caused me to summon all the courage and go for it on Monday, this past one.
        And i did,
i did not book the appointment yet, but called and the office and they promised to call me back as the person in charge was on annual leave ๐Ÿ™‚
Just genuinely felt i needed to tell u of this little update – im not there yet, but step by step.

You empower me, and i thank you genuinely, truly, sincerely for doing so the way that u do. It’s that u make me feel empowered and supported in a way … it’s beautiful.

        Truly yours, Joy

      2. Hahaha! This will not be the first time I have subjected my family to weird behavior ๐Ÿ˜› XD ๐Ÿ˜›

Awww … your kind words are making me feel like cheese in the oven โค โค โค Thanks SO much ๐Ÿ™‚

Step by step is indeed how we go. The largest, most daunting goals can be overcome, we just have to break it down into bite sized pieces. The wonderful thing is, you'll gain momentum as you go along and will be charging forward with confidence and a positive outlook before long (cape flying fiercely in the wind behind you). The beginning is usually the hardest part ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm very glad to hear you made progress. Don't stop there! ๐Ÿ˜€ May the force be with you.

  7. Great goals, I was extremely impressed with the first goal! Knitting a sweater is just as, Considering the fact I can’t get past the 8 row on my scarf! Sad but true. My top 3 would be simply is to commit to working out 4 times a week, Blog and read more while making the most of everyday. I guess that makes 4 ๐Ÿ˜Š Look forward to your progress!

    1. LOL! XD … that sweater goal is indeed challenging, I’m looking forward to the celebration afterwards XD I mean, really just now I walked away from my laptop irked to find out that even straight needles come in different lengths. Lengths! As if the sizes and types aren’t enough to give you a migraine! ๐Ÿ˜ต ๐Ÿ˜ต

Good luck on your goals ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks so much for sharing โค โค

  8. My June goals: 1) No updating status in any social medias. lame, I know. Hahahaha. But I will post comments or like others’ posts. 2) Losing weight. I think this is a good timing since I am fasting and recently I don’t eat much as before.

Goodluck with nomor satu! anyway I am actually a part time Bahasa Indonesia tutor ๐Ÿ˜€
    Semangat!

    1. Oooh, “semangat” – what does it mean? My translator says “spirit”. I haven’t met this word yet till now ๐Ÿ™‚

Are you losing weight through exercise, dieting or both?

      Like

      1. “Semangat” is like umm… “Keep it up!”

For this month I guess through dieting only. I always get very sleepy in the morning and need to go home late after works this month. More exercise soon on the next months! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Good luck! My goals are usually too grandiose. I have one major annual goal so my monthly goals are really objectives in order to reach my goal. That being said, I had a goal this year of selling an article and I have already reached it! Woohoo!

    1. Yay! Congrats! ๐Ÿ™‚ Yeah that’s one way to do it too, have a big goal for the year and construct monthly goals around it.

Not one but two sweaters ? You are a courageous girl ๐Ÿ™‚ Have you heard about tincanknits.com? They do have great tutorials , so good in fact that I was able to knit my first ever pair of socks (on 5 double pointed needles) and they actually do fit feet ๐Ÿ˜€
    My goals this month : 1 – don’t fall back into non-blogging mode and 2 – keep “cross-fitting” my house ๐Ÿ™‚
    Turtle Hugs

    1. Socks! Oh my, I kinda already made up my mind not to knit anything that has to be done in pairs XD XD Good on you! (I better check out tincanknits.com) ๐Ÿ™‚

I already noticed you have the 3 Things Thursday weekly on your blog. That should help ๐Ÿ™‚

And, how are you “cross-fitting” your house?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. “cross-fitting” my house is just the turtle trying to clean and tidy it – while dancing like crazy to the radio – and pretending I am having a workout at the gym ๐Ÿ˜‰ It was going great in the basement but upstairs is not so fun …it has carpet you know …and real furniture ๐Ÿ˜‰
