I was inspired to learn knitting because of the prospect of moving to Australia where colder weather was to be experienced.
Oh the shawls, mittens, hats, sweaters, socks and what else I would knit!
Now that we’re back in sunny, tropical Indonesia however, I’ve temporarily lost my mojo (this includes crochet) đ đ đ âšī¸ Will it just be doilies and curtain tiebacks henceforth?
But my hands are restless and want to create, so while I’m assessing this tangled situation that I am in I decided to knit a Kindle cosy and practice knitting some cables while at it đ
Turned out pretty okay đ I shall find my crafting way very soon. Like next week soon. Because the best way to get back on track is to just do it đ

Not at all, they’re actually quite easy and quick to performđ It helps to find a good tutorial on YouTube – with that I mean, go for what you need and hone in on that. Some tutorials inadvertently confuse by adding too many info, adding this type of cable and that, and that, plus options for left handed and right handed, etc … you get what I mean đđ Give it a try!

Lovely work! Have you tried cotton yarn? That might be better suited for a warmer climate. Anyway, I learned how to do cables with crocheting. It’s pretty easy once you get the pattern down. I’ve made hats for charity with cables in them. It’s fun. And, there are many charities that accept hats for homeless folks, though you would have to ship them out of Indonesia. But, if you’re looking to knit/crochet and do a little good in the world, that’s an option. Also, hospitals need caps for cancer patients, etc.

Thanks, B â¤ī¸ I have worked with cotton crochet thread (for doilies) before, not so much with cotton for garments. But yeah, my next purchases will definitely be cotton or silk, warm-weather yarns.

I have no idea how the temps run where you’re at, or how hot/cold you yourself run, but there’s shawls, baby things, stuff for the house, blankets, hats, scarves, socks, tank tops, etc to make. It all depends on the kind of yarn you use on how warm something is.
Also, you could always make stuff to donate to charity?

Exactly, it’s the yarn I have on stock right now that’s sitting in the way, they’re mostly for warm weather. I need something cool and lightweight. I also need to let go of my infatuation with sweaters and start looking at tanktops and lacy garments. LOL! Thanks Karin. It’s always a good day when you drop by đâ¤ī¸

A kindle cozy. I love it!!!! Lacy things are so pretty–I keep thinking I need to learn to crochet. Then, I note the snarl I’ve made and opt to read instead.

Yummy gorgeous cables and yarn! Your kindle is a very lucky reader:). I totally get the warm weather quandary. I’m from Arizona and LOVE to crochet and quilt. Afghans and Quilts are more of an art than a necessity around my house. But what beautiful eye candy made by my restless hands! So nice to meet you Paardjeâ¤ī¸â¤ī¸

I brought wool to Taiwan because I was determined not to give up knitting but have barely touched it. Need to pick up the needles again.
