Good Food, Fun Company & A Slice of Beautiful Indonesia

My ladies took me out to a corner of paradise again – delectable food, sassy friends, warm sunshine and vibrant colors all around.Β  I loved it! ❀

On the way to our chosen seafood restaurant …

A word of advice when eating Indonesian food ~ despite the fact that it’s gonna burn your tongue, just have something at hand to wipe the snot & the sweat off XD Indo food is irresistibly delicious in an exotic, novel way. While I’m here I’ve made it a point to train my tongue to adjust to higher levels of spicy-ness because the ‘torture’ is worth it! πŸ˜€

And then there were the beckoning Riau Islands ….

Share Your World 2015 Week 48

November BloomAre you a hugger or a non-hugger?

I’m not. At least with other people I’m not. Hugging was just not part of my upbringing.Β  But I know I hug my daughter to bits and surprise my husband with spontaneous ones too, every once in a while πŸ˜€ With other people I tend to be more reserved.

What is your favorite toppings on pizza?

If you were the original designer of one existing corporate logo, which one would you select?

Complete this sentence:Β  Where I can seek my solace is…

… anywhere quiet & preferably at home so I can lie down & hug some plushies or raid the fridge for some cheesecake afterwards πŸ˜€

Bonus question: Β What are you grateful for from last week ~

Aww, I should’ve taken pictures πŸ™‚ I remember feeling really grateful for some ready mixed spice paste for Japanese & Malaysian curry.

I was feeling bored with my usual dinner choices & the spice pastes gave us some savory-hot variation sans the tedious manual labor that would otherwise accompany a dish of such gastronomic impact.

Mmmm …… happiness doesn’t have to be complicated, does it now? ❀

~ and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Nothing special, more of the same ordinary adventures – which I deeply appreciate even though they don’t really vary that much on a weekly basis. My family is together, we’re healthy and we’re blessed.Β  What more can a girl ask for? ❀

Bridge Tripping and Spicy Corn-on-the-Grill

Batam Barelang Bridge Last weekend we went for a quick roadtrip to Barelang Bridge, a tourist spot which, I didn’t know at the time, is actually a chain of 6 bridges that connect several Indonesian islands. What amazed me was that the place was just teeming with local tourists. And as you can see in below picture, they apparently like to relax on the bridge itself! At one point there was a police truck slowly roving about and saying something on the megaphones, I could only guess it was urging people to get off the bridge for everyone’s safety.

After enjoying the view and snapping some photos – we didn’t get on the bridge itself but there was a nice (and more appropriate) look-out point for tourists off to the left – we indulged in some local street food again! Spicy corn-on-the-grill:

These were so spicy (and yummy, actually, once you got over the burn) we had to constantly wipe the snot off our noses! LOL!Β  We had to intersperse our bites with sips of cold soda or else steam would come out our ears πŸ˜‚ Oh my, what spicy torture that was! πŸ˜‚

What’s a local tourist spot you’ve been wanting to visit for some time now?Β  Why not go and give yourself a quick treat? πŸ™‚
